The public can now access the Union Hotel Demolition time lapse camera through the City's website at www.trail.ca/UnionHotel  or through a direct link at https://public.earthcam.net/UnionHotel

This notice is to inform the public that the demolition of the Old Union Hotel at 898 Victoria Street and the building located at 1144 Cedar Avenue will commence on Wednesday, June 19, 2019.

The demolition and post demolition works will take 6 weeks to complete per the schedule below.

  • Mobilization to site and site preparations - In progress
  • Building demolitions - June 19 to July 9, 2019
  • Site backfilling, final grading, and drainage preparations - July 10 to July 26, 2019
  • Final cleanup and demobilization - July 27 to July 29, 2019

Please note the City has spoken directly to business/building owners in proximity to the demolition site to inform them of the schedule and to answer any questions.

During the project timeframe, there may be temporary single-lane closures on Victoria Street and pedestrian detours on Victoria Street and/or Cedar Avenue. The City asks that motorists and pedestrians take extra caution in these areas and to obey all posted signage. Dust and noise will be controlled to prevent the creation of a hazard or nuisance in the surrounding area. The Dust and Control Plan is attached for your reference. A time-lapse camera will be set up to capture the demolition - a public URL to access the photos will be available in the coming days.

The City of Trail apologizes for any inconvenience this project may cause. Please direct any questions or concerns to the following:
