The Welcome Inn was bought by my parents (Lou &Evelyn) in 1960 or 61.They changed the name to Lous Coffee shop.Mom pretty much ran the place and Dad continued to work at the smelter. On the weekends dad took over and although I don't think he really knew what he was doing he had a great time doing it. I remember the place always being full of people.Dad would be behind the counter making pots of his Boy Scout Coffee and his famous triple thick shakes and Mom would be in the back making the food, and I had all the pop and chips a kid could ever want.Dad died in 65 and mom sold the place about 1967. We moved to Ont in 1970.My wife and I are Moving to Vancouver this winter and will be visiting Trail in the spring...can't wait to get back home | Dave Demore | | Tuesday, August 17th, 2010, 1:57 pm | Born in Trail / Amherstburg ont |

I would like to say a quick hello to everyone and hope all is well with our friends and family in Trail.
I know now how small the world is. May 20, 2010, of all places (Halifax), we bumped into our friends Gary and Levon Brown. It was like yesterday. Funny how as we age together, our friends seem to look the same forever...God's miracle.
I truly you all and wish that we had the resources to visit every week but have grandchildren proves to be quite expensive although I don't think about mony when I see all the lovely things that I know they love.
Our grandson Aaron is 8 years old and grand-daughter Ciarra is 4. I must confess they are very cute.
Love always. Please write to me if you wish. My email is olga.muir@gmail.com

Stumbled across this website while looking for family info. I was born in Trail in 1947 and lived out in the boonies north of Fruitvale (Parks Siding to be specific) until I was about 5 or 6. Then moved to Trail and went to school at the bottom of the stairs from Shaver's Bench. Also went to the other school across the river at the top of the stairs LOL. Lived with my grandparents at the time and then mom came and moved me away when I was 8. Moved back for a short time when I was 13 or 14 and went to the junior high school that was downtown (for about 1/2 year). Came back again when I was 17 or 18 and living on my own. Most of my relatives live (or lived) in Trail or the immediate area and many of them worked "up the hill". Every so often I swing by and pay those who are left a surprise visit. Hoping to see them again this coming summer. Gotta love my memories of my times in Trail.| Rick Yerex | | Thursday, March 18th, 2010, 4:59 pm | Burnaby, BC |
Graduated in 1973, left town and hardly looked back. Now at that "nostalgic" stage and am wondering what has happened to the people I knew at the time. I am also wondering what it would be like to move back after living in the "big city" for so long. From what I get from the city's website, it seems to be holding up well after all these years!| Wendy Meier (nee Moller) | | Tuesday, March 16th, 2010, 9:28 pm | Vancouver |

Born and raised in Trail, married my high school boy friend. I can not think of a better place to have lived. I return every year for a few days and will continue to do so as long as I am able.

Hello again my friends in Trail,
As you read in my November 2009 posting you may have noticed that I was having a little trouble with my english trying to write 'friends and wonderful.' I practiced very hard this time. It is now December 31, 2009, so I would like to wish you all a very Peaceful, Safe and Properous New Year (2010). I wish I could be there in person. I want especially to remember the Urquharts, Geigers and DeKleins at this time
Love always

Im from the big city but I love visiting trail. My grandma lives there and I spent almost every single summer there. Me and my brother were just visiting there from Nov 6-8(2009) and have since been very tempted to move there. I would definitely suggest visiting the quiet little mountain town of Trail BC to anyone from a big city just to get away from it all and enjoy some of the most amazing views in Canada.| David | | Monday, November 9th, 2009, 1:08 pm | Calgary, Alberta, Canada |
Last October, while driving on holiday through BC and Alberta arrived in Trail while offering a lift one of the most beautiful girl I have ever met, a Jennifer from Trail.I was kindly informed about the town by the people of the Cristofolo Colombo Society. As an italian I'm proud of what people leaving yeard ago from my country have been able and do so far from home,in time when expatriating and working in the mines field was really tough.I'll be back for sure.Thanks.d8889@libero.it| Davide | | Wednesday, November 4th, 2009, 11:15 am | Bologna ,Italy |
In the sixties, I lived in a commune in San Francisco, and met a girl from Trail who I only knew by her first name which was Jude. Unfortunately we weren't too big on last names back then. I think she was a runaway at the time. I also remember she originally lived in Dresden Ont. prior to moving to Trail.
I'd like to say hi to her after all these years. If anyone recognizes these vague facts, please let me know.

As a young man from Colville, WA. in the mid 1950s, I spent many
weekends in Trail.
I would like to hear from anyone who might know the whereabouts of my friend Sheila Hackett whom I lost contact
with some 50 years ago. She worked at "Peoples" and drove a
red 1956 Plymouth convertible. I believe she became a flight
hostess for Air Canada. Sheila would be about 66 yrs. old now.
I can be contacted at nixonron57@yahoo.com. I hope life has treated her well. Thank you so much for this wonderful website.

Hi To All,
My family lived in Genelle and Trail and in 1957 we moved to Calif.
Our Maiden name is Kalek. Our Dad was Harry and our Mom Stella. My sister and I still live in the USA, but are still Canadian
citizens. I am very interested in obtaining information about the
garden seeds that my Dad used to grow in Genelle. Do you have a nursery there that sells seeds or where do you get yours from?| Colleen Collie | | Monday, August 10th, 2009, 11:43 am | Trail BC |
