The
Trail Museum is located in the Trail Memorial Centre at 1051
Victoria Street. The Museum is modest in size however contains
a wealth of artifacts, photos and unique historical items
describing the history of Trail.
Some of the displays include the history of
Local 480 of the Union of Mine, Mill and Smelter Workers and
the role of Ginger Goodwin in early efforts to create a union
at the Trail smelter; a showcase of artifacts from local early
businesses that helped to shape a growing Trail; a display
of historic Fort Shepherd and its place in the discovery and
development of the West Kootenays;
and a municipal display containing artifacts from the
City's earliest days.
The
Museum is open June through August, 10am to 4pm or by appointment
through the Society's offices. We certainly welcome school
and bus tours. Admission is: adults $2, students 10-18 $1,
and under 10 yrs free, school tours 50 cents per child with
accompanying adults free.
The Society is constantly seeking historical
items to enhance the existing, or create new, exhibits celebrating
