Councillor Carol Dobie is very proud of her 97 years of family history in the City of Trail. Her father was born and lived his life in Trail, and except for two years living in the Lower Mainland, she has done the same.
Carol's 28 year career with Teck began in 1964 when it was then known as the Consolidated Mining and Smelting Company of Canada, later Cominco and finally Teck. She worked not only in Trail Operations, but also in the Vancouver office. During a break in Service with Cominco, she worked for Air Canada - Vancouver, Kootenay Engineering Services - Trail, and Selkirk College - Castlegar. In the late 70's, she completed the Instructors Diploma Program at U.B.C. and taught at the Trail Campus, Selkirk College for four years and taught in School District's night school program. Finally, she returned to Cominco and worked in various management positions for the remainder of her career.
While raising her two sons, Carol volunteered in Trail Little League, Trail Soccer, and the United Way. In later years she volunteered for the Festival of the Arts, B.C. Summer Games, Trail Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, and the Salvation Army Thrift Shop. She presently volunteers with Communities in Bloom and Ducks Unlimited.
Effective communication, good decision making and working with fairness, honesty and integrity are the qualities that Carol will bring to council. She considers it an honour to serve the citizens of Trail and looks forward to the challenges and successes of her term in office.
