Annual Property Taxes
The City of Trail issues annual Property Tax Notices via Canada Post around the third week of May of each year. The due date for payment of property taxes is on or before July 2 except when July 2 falls on a weekend in a calendar year in which case the due date is the next business date.
A 10% penalty is applied on unpaid taxes and unclaimed Home Owner Grant amounts after tax due date. Interest on arrears and delinquent amounts owing is calculated to July 2 of that taxation year.
Property Tax Payments
The City accepts cash, cheque, debit card, MasterCard and Visa. Payments can be made safely and securely online through your banking institutions or using our online payment system.
Property owners must be responsible to ensure property taxes are paid. Advertising is placed in the local newspaper alerting property owners that Property Tax Notices have been mailed and advising that they should contact City Hall if not received.
