Well known as the Home of Champions, the Greater Trail Area honours past and present residents that have excelled in business and sports or greatly contributed to the cultural landscape of our region.

Home of Cjhampions MonumentSponsored by Kootenay Savings Credit Union, the Home of Champions Monument is located at the corner of Cedar Avenue and Farwell Street in downtown Trail and lists the names of those individuals and groups recognized as hometown "champions."

How to Nominate

The Society accepts nominations on a regular basis. To nominate a potential "champion" for recognition on the monument, please review the criteria to ensure they qualify. You may download a nomination form, or visit City Hall.

2019 Inductees

This year the following individuals will be recognzied:

  • Greg Barber for Mountain Climbing;
  • Charles Bisset for Muay Thai Martial Arts;
  • Peter Dewdney for Engineer Astronomy;
  • Terry Jones for Coach/Manager Ice Hockey;
  • Glen Kalesniko for Instructor/Trainer Martial Arts; and,
  • Glen Sanders for Professional Scout Ice Hockey.
